Networking…again

I wrote earlier how much I despise the concept of networking. My definition might be off but I see networking as creating a bunch of insincere connections for the specific intent of getting ahead. As Holden Caulfield would say, that is phony! Yet, in my first week at medical school, and classes have not even started, that was the message and word I heard the most. I actually got into a debate with my research PI over the merits of networking and it basically concluded with her telling me that if I do not embrace it now, I am in for a world of disappointment.

Just a High School Diploma

Originally, this post was going to discuss the working relationship I have with one of my coworkers and how I find it funny how he is handling my departure from Rutgers University but after some reflection, I now feel kind of sorry for him. The reason is because he does not have a four year degree and I fear it might hinder him in the future and is part of the reason why he resents me for leaving.

So It Begins

On Monday of this week, I gave my two week notice at my workplace. I will no longer be working there because this August I will be attending New Jersey Medical School. I knew eventually I would leave my job but I did not expect it to be so soon. The decision to actually leave now happened all within the last ten days or so. Do I have any regrets? No I do not but I did like my job. In fact, if the timing was different I may never have left it at all.
